A Heinz 57 Pet Rescue and Transport Events

Here’s a link to the Events page on A Heinz 57 Pet Rescue and Transport’s web site. AHeinz57 Pet Rescue & Transport, Inc. is a 501(c)3, non-profit, foster-based animal rescue organization, headquartered in De Soto, IA.

It is a unique rescue organization in that they exist mainly to bridge the gap between traditional animal shelters and no-kill rescues by:

  • providing free transportation for dogs from traditional shelters to no-kill rescues all over the Midwest and Canada.
  • providing overnight rest stops for our furry travelers and temporary housing for those whose time has run out at the shelters, but have to wait for a foster spot to open up in one of the rescues
  • pulling dogs out of traditional shelters that are on death row and placing them in foster homes and forever homes thru our organization.

Furry Friends Refuge Events

April 29, 2017 – Chili Cookoff benefiting Furry Friends

‘Soup’-er fundraiser to benefit Furry Friends Refuge
WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Furry Friends Refuge invites the community to come chow down at a fundraiser to help feed pets in need.
The no-kill animal shelter’s third annual chili cookoff is set for 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at The Keg Stand, 3530 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines.
Admission is $10 and includes unlimited chili samples and a beer. You’ll also have the chance to check out raffle prizes and silent auction items, including MLB tickets, ISU memorabilia, dining packages, a spa basket, and more.
Vote for your favorite stews by putting donations in their jars — the top four earners will receive awards, while Furry Friends will receive the contents of all donation jars. Proceeds from the raffle ticket sales, and silent auction purchases will also go directly to caring for, housing, and feeding local animals in need.
Furry Friends Refuge is a nonprofit humane organization serving the animals of central Iowa. The volunteer-supported group has built and maintained open-admission no-kill communities — meaning a live-release rate of well over 90 percent — in West Des Moines, Urbandale, and Clive since 2013. It cares for about 200 cat, dogs, and small critters on an average day on a shoestring budget.
